Please Leave a Comment

The Student Blogging Challenge has had us thinking about what makes a good comment and and how they help or, sometimes, don’t help our writing and our learning… Louise used a new web tool (new for us anyway) called “toondoo

Blogging is a part of our writing programme just like drafting, editing and conferencing. We spent a lot of time learning how to give feedback earlier this year and will use the “Two Stars and a Wish” approach as our guideline for commenting as well.

It doesn’t happen very often, but we have been known to delete comments rather than approve them. We really do love our visitors and appreciate the time that they take to comment but if it is a social comment or unhelpful to our learning we will delete it. Yesterday, as an example, the Scoopers were checking in and found a comment from an “anonymous” blogger that simply said “That’s real cool man”. We were unanimous that we would delete the comment because it wasn’t helpful and we couldn’t check who had written it…

If you were our anonymous commenter, we would love you to stop by again and leave us another comment. Let us know what you like about our post, something we have done well and how we could make it better…

  1. We have been thinking about what makes a good comment and didn’t think about anonymous people!
